2008 Petit Verdot

One of the traditional classic black grape varieties. Petit Verdot is a finicky little grape packed with a lot of power. This grape variety makes a wine with a beautiful deep colour and black fruit flavour. Our winemaker, John Higgins, has created our 2008 Petit Verdot with a rich eggplant colour, with flavours of blackberry, plum, allspice and clove. Essence of spicy vanilla, from aging twenty-four months in new French Nevers oak, contributes to a smooth and long finish.

Here are a few sensations on the nose and on the palate – Vinous, black fruits, blackberry with pencil shavings, molasses and tar spices. Herbal scents of weeds and nettles supported by leather, vanilla, coconut, sweet wood, oak, smoke, toast and tar. With bottle age you will also get cedar and cigar box. If you are into Big, Palate Busting, Sensational, Reds then this is definitely one for you. If your palate is not quite ready then cellar this fine wine for 15+ years and try again.

Our Petit Verdot provides you with a unique tasting experience of a varietal not commonly seen unblended.
